Fred M. Vinson Museum and Welcome Center
315 East Madison Street The Museum is birthplace to Fred M. Vinson born January 21, 1890. The Museum shows his life in Louisa and all the way to the US Supreme Court. He died in 1953. Open for tours, call 606-638-0078

big sandy river lawrence, ky Big Sandy River Needle Dam
The first needle dam in the United States was completed in 1896 on the Big Sandy River, downstream from the city of Louisa. The lock can be viewed from Louisa City Swimming Pool.

Bridge Over 2 Rivers
The Louisa/Fort Gay Bridge is a Tri-Bridge or T-shaped Bridge at the confluence of the Levisa and Tug Fork Rivers. The Bridge was featured in “Ripley’s Believe It or Not” on March 5, 1931 as being the only bridge that crosses two rivers and connects two states two counties and two cities. The third arm in the center connects to a land mass known as “The Point Section” Locals always find enjoyment by giving directions to turn right in the middle of the bridge.
